Eco-Friendly Lawn Care in Johns Creek, GA
Lawn Care for Johns Creek's Wooded Neighborhoods
Johns Creek is one of Georgia's newest cities, incorporated in 2006, but most of its neighborhoods are much older than the city itself. The subdivisions that filled in during the building boom of the 1990s still have many of the pines and hardwoods the developer left standing. The result is a city of large lots where a lawn has to share the ground with some serious trees. Ecocare has cared for metro Atlanta lawns since 2010, and shaded, mature-lot turf is one of the things we know best. Our office is in East Cobb, a short drive away. Alejandro Simmonds, our founder, holds a degree in Environmental Horticulture and set Ecocare up around science-backed, reduced-impact treatments from day one. We keep Johns Creek lawns thick, green, and weed-free, for homes and commercial properties alike.
Our Lawn Care Services in Johns Creek
Fertilization and Weed Control
Our 8-application Turf Care Program combines fertilization with pre-emergent weed control, which stops weeds before they sprout, and post-emergent weed control, which treats the weeds already there. Each program is tailored to your grass, warm-season or cool-season.
Tree and Shrub Care
The pines and hardwoods that make Johns Creek look the way it does, and the foundation plantings around its homes, need care too. We offer deep root fertilization plus insect and disease control to keep them healthy and growing strong.
Lawn Disease Control
Thick tree canopy holds moisture and cuts airflow, which is exactly what turf diseases like brown patch and dollar spot want. We offer preventative treatments, plus curative treatments for problems that have already started.
Insect Control
We treat armyworms, grubs, and beetles before they damage your turf. Our insect treatments are pet-friendly.
Aeration
Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil so water, air, and nutrients can reach the roots. For Bermuda and zoysia lawns, we aerate from spring into summer, once the lawn is about 50% green.
Fall Fescue Overseeding
Fescue thins out every year, and heavy shade makes it worse. Our fall overseeding (September through November) pairs core aeration with premium fescue seed to fill bare spots and thicken your lawn.
Johns Creek Lawn Conditions and Seasonal Timing
Johns Creek's defining feature is its tree cover. The neighborhoods around Autrey Mill and along the Chattahoochee kept a lot of their original woods, and the lawns tucked into those trees get only a few hours of direct sun a day, often in the middle of the afternoon. That's not enough for Bermuda or zoysia, which need full sun and will thin out year after year in shade. Tall fescue is the practical answer for those yards, even though it needs help through the summer and wants overseeding each fall.
On the sunnier lots, especially the newer developments around the Town Center and Technology Park, Bermuda and zoysia do well. They're warm-season grasses that thrive in summer heat and go dormant (brown) in winter, which is normal here and not a sign of a dying lawn.
A typical Johns Creek year looks like this:
- Late winter to early spring: pre-emergent weed control goes down before crabgrass and other weeds sprout.
- Spring into summer: warm-season lawns are fed as they green up, and core aeration begins once they're about 50% green. Summer is when we watch for disease and insects.
- Fall: fescue lawns get aerated and overseeded from September through November, and we stay ahead of winter weeds.
We adjust every program to your grass type, your shade, and your yard.

How do I get a free estimate?
Call (678) 993-0834 or fill out our online free estimate form. If you can, upload photos of the front, back, and sides of your lawn, plus any problem areas, so we can give you a more accurate estimate.
My Johns Creek lot is mostly pine shade. What can I realistically do?
Pine shade is the hardest kind, because the canopy blocks most of the light and the needle drop smothers thin turf. Tall fescue handles it better than Bermuda or zoysia, and fall overseeding from September through November keeps it full. On a heavily shaded lot we'll also be honest with you about which parts of the yard will hold turf and which won't.
What does the Turf Care Program include?
Eight applications a year of fertilization, pre-emergent weed control, and post-emergent weed control, set up for warm-season or cool-season grass.
Are your treatments safe for pets?
Our insect control treatments are pet-friendly, and we use environmentally conscious, reduced-impact products across our services.
Do you service commercial properties in Johns Creek?
Yes. Office parks and retail centers get the same level of care as our residential customers: customized programs, regular treatment schedules, and turf, tree, and shrub care. We work alongside your landscapers, who handle the mowing.
