Eco-Friendly Lawn Care in Canton, GA
Lawn Care for Canton, the Cherokee County Seat
Canton has changed a lot in the last twenty years. The old cotton mill downtown is now a block of shops and restaurants, the Etowah River has parks and a canoe launch along its banks, and new neighborhoods keep spreading out toward the county line. Through all of that, the lawns here still grow on the same heavy Cherokee County clay, and that's what Ecocare has been treating since 2010. Founder Alejandro Simmonds holds a degree in Environmental Horticulture, and he built Ecocare around a simple idea: lawn care can be effective and environmentally responsible at the same time. Our science-backed, reduced-impact treatments keep Canton yards thick, green, and weed-free.
Our Lawn Care Services in Canton
Fertilization and Weed Control
Our 8-application Turf Care Program combines fertilization with pre-emergent weed control, which stops weeds before they sprout, and post-emergent weed control, which treats the weeds already there. Each program is tailored to your grass, warm-season or cool-season.
Tree and Shrub Care
The shade trees along Canton's older streets and the foundation beds around its newer homes both need care. We offer deep root fertilization plus insect and disease control to keep them healthy and growing strong.
Lawn Disease Control
Canton's humid summers, plus the damp ground in the bottomland along the Etowah, can bring turf diseases like brown patch and dollar spot. We offer preventative treatments, plus curative treatments for problems that have already started.
Insect Control
We treat armyworms, grubs, and beetles before they damage your turf. Our insect treatments are pet-friendly.
Aeration
Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil so water, air, and nutrients can reach the roots. For Bermuda and zoysia lawns, we aerate from spring into summer, once the lawn is about 50% green.
Fall Fescue Overseeding
Fescue thins out every year, especially under Canton's shade trees. Our fall overseeding (September through November) pairs core aeration with premium fescue seed to fill bare spots and thicken your lawn.
Canton Lawn Conditions and Seasonal Timing
Canton's soil is the first thing to understand. Cherokee County clay is heavy and red, and it holds water in some spots and bakes hard in others. On the newer lots going in north and west of downtown, builders often scraped the topsoil down to that clay before laying sod, so roots have a shallow layer to work with. Yards that back up to the Etowah or one of its creeks stay wet longer into spring. Yards up toward the Lake Allatoona shoreline tend to be wooded, which means shade and root competition.
That variety decides your grass. Full-sun front yards are usually Bermuda or zoysia, warm-season grasses that love summer heat and go dormant (brown) in winter. Shaded backyards and wooded lots do better with tall fescue, a cool-season grass that handles shade but struggles through July and August. Larger lots often have a mix of all three.
A typical Canton year looks like this:
- Late winter to early spring: pre-emergent weed control goes down before crabgrass and other weeds sprout.
- Spring into summer: warm-season lawns are fed as they green up, and core aeration begins once they're about 50% green. Summer is when we watch for disease and insects.
- Fall: fescue lawns get aerated and overseeded from September through November, and we stay ahead of winter weeds.
We adjust every program to your grass type, your lot size, and how your yard drains.

Canton Lawn Care FAQs
How do I get a free estimate?
Call (678) 993-0834 or fill out our online free estimate form. If you can, upload photos of the front, back, and sides of your lawn, plus any problem areas, so we can give you a more accurate estimate.
My Canton yard is on a larger lot with several grass types. Can one program cover it?
Yes. Larger properties often have Bermuda or zoysia in the sun and fescue under the trees, so we map the lawn and treat each area for the grass growing there. That may mean separate applications for the sunny and shaded sections.
What's included in the Turf Care Program?
Eight applications a year that include fertilization, pre-emergent weed control, and post-emergent weed control, tailored for warm-season or cool-season grass.
Are your treatments safe for pets?
Our insect control treatments are pet-friendly, and we use environmentally conscious, reduced-impact products across our services.
Do you service commercial properties in Canton?
Yes. Commercial properties get the same treatments as our residential customers: customized programs, regular treatment schedules, and turf, tree, and shrub care. We work alongside your landscapers, who handle the mowing.
