Eco-Friendly Lawn Care in Atlanta, GA

Lawn Care Built for the City in a Forest

Atlanta is known as the City in a Forest, and close to half of it grows under tree canopy. That is wonderful to live in and hard on a lawn. Grass that competes with a century-old oak for water, nutrients, and light will thin out no matter how much fertilizer goes down. Ecocare has cared for metro Atlanta lawns since 2010, and we build our programs around that reality: shade-tolerant grass where the light allows it, straight answers where it doesn't, and treatments that make the most of the sun your yard actually gets. Our office is in East Cobb, so we're a local team rather than a national chain working from across the state. Founder Alejandro Simmonds holds a degree in Environmental Horticulture and started Ecocare to show that lawn care can be effective and environmentally responsible at the same time. We keep Atlanta yards thick, green, and weed-free, for homes and commercial properties alike.

Our Lawn Care Services in Atlanta

Fertilization and Weed Control

Our 8-application Turf Care Program combines fertilization with pre-emergent weed control, which stops weeds before they sprout, and post-emergent weed control, which treats the weeds already there. Each program is tailored to your grass, warm-season or cool-season.

Tree and Shrub Care

Atlanta's oaks, maples, and dogwoods, and the boxwood and hydrangea beds around older homes, need care of their own. We offer deep root fertilization plus insect and disease control to keep them healthy and growing strong.

Lawn Disease Control

Warm, humid summers and damp shade under old trees are ideal conditions for turf diseases like brown patch and dollar spot. We offer preventative treatments, plus curative treatments for problems that have already started.

Insect Control

We treat armyworms, grubs, and beetles before they damage your turf. Our insect treatments are pet-friendly.

Aeration

Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil so water, air, and nutrients can reach the roots. For Bermuda and zoysia lawns, we aerate from spring into summer, once the lawn is about 50% green.

Fall Fescue Overseeding

Fescue thins out every year, and in Atlanta's shade it thins quickly. Our fall overseeding (September through November) pairs core aeration with premium fescue seed to fill bare spots and thicken your lawn.

Atlanta Lawn Conditions and Seasonal Timing

Intown Atlanta is a patchwork of small lots. The bungalow blocks of Virginia-Highland and Grant Park were laid out a century ago, when a front yard was a dozen steps deep. Newer townhome rows in Midtown and along the BeltLine fit an even smaller square of turf between the sidewalk and the stoop. Only Buckhead and the older estate streets have real depth to work with. Whatever the size, a mature tree can reach roots across the whole of it.

That leaves two problems to solve: light and compaction. Bermuda and zoysia want full sun, and given anything less they thin out year after year, so tall fescue is the practical choice for a shaded intown yard even though our summers wear on it. Sunny spots want a warm-season grass that shrugs off July. Then there's the ground itself. Decades of foot traffic, parked cars, and construction have packed the Georgia red clay under most intown lots until water runs off instead of soaking in.

A typical Atlanta year looks like this:

  • Late winter to early spring: pre-emergent weed control goes down before crabgrass and other weeds sprout.
  • Spring into summer: warm-season lawns are fed as they green up, and core aeration begins once they're about 50% green. Summer is when we watch for disease and insects.
  • Fall: fescue lawns get aerated and overseeded from September through November, and we stay ahead of winter weeds.

We adjust every program to your grass type, the light your yard gets, and the size of the space.

Atlanta Lawn Care FAQs

How do I get a free estimate?

Call (678) 993-0834 or fill out our online free estimate form. If you can, upload photos of the front, back, and sides of your lawn, plus any problem areas, so we can give you a more accurate estimate.

My Atlanta yard is tiny and shaded by old trees. Is it worth treating?

Often, yes. Tall fescue handles part shade far better than Bermuda or zoysia, and a fall overseeding can bring a thin, shaded yard back. If part of your yard gets too little light for any grass to hold, we'll tell you that on the estimate instead of selling you a program that won't work.

What does the Turf Care Program include?

Eight applications a year of fertilization, pre-emergent weed control, and post-emergent weed control, set up for warm-season or cool-season grass.

Are your treatments safe for pets?

Our insect control treatments are pet-friendly, and we use environmentally conscious, reduced-impact products across our services.

Do you service commercial properties in Atlanta?

Yes. Small office and retail sites get the same treatments as our residential customers: customized programs, regular treatment schedules, and turf, tree, and shrub care. We work alongside your landscapers, who handle the mowing.
