Eco-Friendly Lawn Care in Hiram, GA
Lawn Care for Hiram, From Olde Town to the New Subdivisions
Hiram started as a railroad town in 1891, and what's left of that downtown still looks the part, with the Silver Comet Trail running close by. Most of the town, though, is newer. Subdivisions filled in the land between downtown and the Paulding County line, each one graded and sodded on its own schedule. Ecocare has been caring for north Georgia lawns since 2010, and we serve Hiram homes and businesses. Founder Alejandro Simmonds holds a degree in Environmental Horticulture, and he built Ecocare on science-backed, reduced-impact treatments that keep Hiram yards thick, green, and weed-free.
Our Lawn Care Services in Hiram
Fertilization and Weed Control
Our 8-application Turf Care Program combines fertilization with pre-emergent weed control, which stops weeds before they sprout, and post-emergent weed control, which treats the weeds already there. Each program is tailored to your grass, warm-season or cool-season.
Tree and Shrub Care
The young trees and foundation shrubs in Hiram's newer neighborhoods need a few years of help before they're established. We offer deep root fertilization plus insect and disease control to keep them healthy and growing strong.
Lawn Disease Control
Thick, well-watered subdivision lawns hold humidity close to the ground, which is exactly what turf diseases like brown patch and dollar spot want. We offer preventative treatments, plus curative treatments for problems that have already started.
Insect Control
We treat armyworms, grubs, and beetles before they damage your turf. Our insect treatments are pet-friendly.
Aeration
Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil so water, air, and nutrients can reach the roots. New sod laid over graded clay is the case where it helps most. For Bermuda and zoysia lawns, we aerate from spring into summer, once the lawn is about 50% green.
Fall Fescue Overseeding
Fescue thins out every year. Our fall overseeding (September through November) pairs core aeration with premium fescue seed to fill bare spots and thicken your lawn.
Hiram Lawn Conditions and Seasonal Timing
Hiram has grown fast, and fast growth leaves a mark on the soil. When a subdivision goes in, the grading crew cuts and fills the lot until it's level, and what's left under the sod is compacted clay with very little topsoil. New lawns look fine for a season because the sod comes with its own root mat, then start to thin in the second or third summer. Lawns on the older streets near downtown have the opposite problem: mature trees, deep shade, and roots competing with the grass for everything.
Which grass you have usually follows that pattern. Newer, sunny lots are Bermuda or zoysia, warm-season grasses that love summer heat and go dormant (brown) in winter. Older, shaded yards lean toward tall fescue, a cool-season grass that handles shade but struggles through July and August.
A typical Hiram year looks like this:
- Late winter to early spring: pre-emergent weed control goes down before crabgrass and other weeds sprout.
- Spring into summer: warm-season lawns are fed as they green up, and core aeration begins once they're about 50% green. Summer is when we watch for disease and insects.
- Fall: fescue lawns get aerated and overseeded from September through November, and we stay ahead of winter weeds.
We adjust every program to your grass type, your soil, and how old your lawn is.

Hiram Lawn Care FAQs
How do I get a free estimate?
Call (678) 993-0834 or fill out our online free estimate form. If you can, upload photos of the front, back, and sides of your lawn, plus any problem areas, so we can give you a more accurate estimate.
My Hiram lawn is only a few years old and already thinning. Why?
That's common on newer construction. The sod was laid over graded clay with little topsoil, so the roots never got deep. Core aeration plus a steady feeding program rebuilds the soil over a couple of seasons, and we'll tell you what your lawn needs after we see it.
What's included in the Turf Care Program?
Eight applications a year that include fertilization, pre-emergent weed control, and post-emergent weed control, tailored for warm-season or cool-season grass.
Are your treatments safe for pets?
Our insect control treatments are pet-friendly, and we use environmentally conscious, reduced-impact products across our services.
Do you service commercial properties in Hiram?
Yes. Commercial properties get the same treatments as our residential customers: customized programs, regular treatment schedules, and turf, tree, and shrub care. We work alongside your landscapers, who handle the mowing.
